Treatment sessions are tailored to the clinical and financial constraints of the individual client. We offer one-to-one sessions of 30, 45 or 60 minute duration, group classes of 30 or 45 minute duration and provision of a safe environment for independent exercise with access to a qualified physiotherapist.
Initial Assessment
The initial assessment lasts approximately 60 minutes and will consist of both a land and water based assessment. We will question you regarding your general health to ensure that it is appropriate to provide you with a water based treatment, as well as taking details of any medications you are prescribed. We take a full history of the health condition you are experiencing and any goals that you have for attending aquatic physiotherapy.
Following the initial assessment, we will discuss with you the type and duration of treatment that would be appropriate for you.
Initial assessments priced from £100.
Treatment Sessions
An initial assessment is required before embarking on any treatment plan.
All treatments are given on a one-to-one basis, though there may be other clients receiving treatment in the large pool (if this is a problem then please let us know). Treatments are available in 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions; we will recommend a treatment length after your initial assessment, but we do consider and recognise financial constraints. The type of treatment you receive will vary on the condition, sometimes hands on treatment is given or you will be directed to perform specific exercises yourself.
Prices (January 2024)
One-to-one treatments from £65 for 30 minutes, £85 for 45 minutes.
Independent exercise sessions (with exercise programme provided) from £15 per 30 minute session.
Block booking discounts are available for independent sessions.
Classes
Once you have had an assessment it may be that you will be best suited to attend one of our small classes. This allows you to complete exercises in a supervised way and feedback will be given to help you improve the way you are carrying out the exercises or to progress them when necessary.
You may wish to consider attending the Ai-Chi class.
Ai Chi Class
Ai Chi classes are held on a Wednesday at 5.30 and 6.30pm, the cost per class is £17.50 with block booking discounts available. Free taster sessions are available.
Ai Chi was developed in Japan as a form of aquatic exercise used for recreation, relaxation, fitness, and physical rehabilitation. In essence, Ai Chi is a holistic approach to health that uses breathing techniques and progressive resistance training in water to relax and strengthen the body. It is based on elements of Qi Gong and T’ai Chi.
Typically, Ai Chi is practiced in shoulder depth water in group classes, one-on-one therapy sessions or individually. Ai Chi focuses on deep breathing patterns. Simple breathing techniques are then combined with gentle movement in a progression from the upper extremities, trunk, lower extremities and finally to involvement of the full torso, with a gradual narrowing of the base of support. Movement is slow and continuous, with attention to body alignment and accompanied with deep diaphragmatic breathing and a calm meditative state of mind. Mental focus is on flowing movement, proper body alignment and coordinated breathing.
Ai Chi can assist with the following health conditions:
1. Pain management for fibromyalgia, arthritis, mastectomy and multiple sclerosis.
2. Respiratory disorders such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
3. Cardiovascular problems including cardiac rehabilitation.
4. Circulatory disorders such as hypertension and migraine headaches.
5. Metabolic disorders including weight control, diabetes and obesity.
6. Psychological problems such as chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety and depressive disorders.
7. Musculoskeletal or orthopaedic conditions including low back pain, scoliosis, carpal tunnel syndrome (or any repetitive stress syndrome), musculoskeletal injuries and surgeries, balance deficits, prenatal, sports injuries, and accident and fall prevention.
8. Neurological disturbances including strokes and traumatic brain injury.
9. Endocrinological disorders such as immunodeficiency disorders and fatigue.

“I cannot speak too highly about the team and treatment at Aqua-Rehab. I had a course of aquatic therapy sessions there after a replacement knee operation. From the initial assessment, through to weekly sessions in the pool the level of expertise, the friendly environment and the ability to make you feel as if you were their only “patient” was nothing less than superb. I would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend Aqua-Rehab.”
